Historic Neapolitan mandolin with rosewood sides
Solid spruce top decorated with Art Deco mother-of-pearl and marquetry
Back with 21 Indian rosewood ribs
brass action
Typical early 20th century mandolin, in good condition and ready to be played.
The neck is slightly curved but perfectly playable, which is rather rare for mandolins of this period.
Nice pearly decoration.
Restored groove near the high E mechanism.
To be played professionally, it can be fitted with fine 006-007 steel strings or gut strings as originally used, or a luthier can be asked to make a thicker modern concert fingerboard (a fairly substantial job).
Unlike modern mandolins, the sound is brilliant, powerful, warm and much more melodic.
